PENSIONS: Another Myth Busted
The CWA-AFA claimed they investigated the IAM National Pension Plan as an option during United’s bankruptcy, and then decided Flight Attendants should not be allowed to vote on whether to have a pension or not.
"With the assistance of our actuaries and other advisors, AFA explored any and all options in a replacement plan scenario including establishing a multi-employer pension plan, a defined contribution plan and joining an existing multi-employer plan including the Machinists National Pension Plan (NPP)."
- Official CWA-AFA Communication to United Flight Attendants.

Fact is, they never asked for the information necessary to perform a comprehensive review, so they did not have the data necessary to evaluate the Plan.

The IAM will perform true due diligence in investigating and negotiating every available pension option and presenting them to Flight Attendants so you can make the pension decision for yourself — things the CWA-AFA neglected to do for their members.

FACT: The IAM National Pension Plan is 105% funded.
